When Charity Wright was born on June 2, 1799, in Newberry, South Carolina, her father, Isaac, was 34, and her mother, Susannah, was 32. She married William Maxwell on May 1, 1817. They had 12 children in 25 years. She died on December 3, 1882, in Ackworth, Iowa, having lived a long life of 83 years, and was buried in Warren, Iowa.
