Was a Deacon of the Mill Creek Baptist Church which he helped organize. Father was killed by Indians in Shelby County, Kentucky. He started a tannery in Kentucky and when he came to Washington County, Indiana, he again established a tannery and was well known in a large part of Southern Indiana for his superior work.
