There are TWO Margaret Wrights who married brothers Joseph and Abraham Hollingsworth
Abraham (born 1739) and Joseph (born 1735) were brothers, sons of George and Hannah McCoy Hollingsworth, born in Frederick, VA and died in Laurens, SC. They married two different Margaret Wrights!! There are two Hollingsworth genealogy books in 1884 and 1925 that are essential in sorting out this most confusing genealogy!!
The 1884 "Hollingsworth Genealogical Memoranda" by William Hollingsworth and the 1925 book "Descendants of Valentine Hollingsworth, Sr" by Hollingsworth descendant J. Adger Stewart both have matching entries: 1. JOSEPH Hollingsworth (moved to SC by 1768): Issue 1st Marriage (to Unknown Frost in 1762/1763 in VA): Jonathan and David Issue 2nd Marriage (to widow Margaret Wright Hammer in 1768 in SC): Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, John, Joseph, Zebulon, Ezekiel, Charity, William and Susanna (born 1769-1785+ in SC) 2. ABRAHAM Hollingworth (moved to SC circa 1780s): Issue (only) marriage (to Margaret Wright in 1762 in VA): George, Joseph, Robert, Levi, Jemima, Hannah, Richard (born 1763-1778 in VA or NC) (children confirmed in 1792/1795 SC deeds)
It is confusing. But these are two different families -- two different Hollingworth brothers married to two different Margaret Wrights (unknown relationship; cousins?). They are having children at the same time in two different states. Abraham is known to live in Frederick, VA in 1763-1773 where and when his first five children are born while Joseph is known to live in Laurens, SC in 1768-1792 where and when he married the other Margaret Wright and having children there. Please do NOT mix up these most confusing families; please refer to the documented genealogies that had considerable research behind them. Both Margarets were born in the early 1740s in Frederick, VA; both Margarets died in Laurens, SC. Birthdates, deathdates, and parents need to be confirmed.
