Biography

Thomas Wright was born in Woburn, Massachusetts, on December 12, 1709, the son of James Wright and Elizabeth Patten.[1][2][3]

He married first, in Woburn, on April 10, 1744, Patience Richardson, of Woburn. They had two children, both born in Woburn:[1][4]

  1. Patience Wright, born July 30, 1745; married Nathaniel Watts, April 21, 1772.[5][6]
  2. Sarah Wright, born July 18, 1748; married Benjamin Converse, August 6, 1772; died June 24, 1824.[7][8][9]

His wife, Patience, died on October 22, 1748, at the age of 37.[1][10]

He married second, in Woburn, on March 2, 1756, Elizabeth Chandler, of Woburn. They had five children, all born in Woburn:[1][11]

  1. Elizabeth Wright, born January 11, 1757; married, October 31, 1780, John Symmes, Jr. of Medford.[12][13]
  2. Thomas Wright, born January 13, 1759, baptized April 15, 1759; married, intention September 21, 1782, Mary Sprague, of Cambridge.[14]
  3. Philemon Wright, born September 2, 1760; married, May 16, 1782, Abigail Wyman; became the founder of Hull, Quebec, Canada.[15][16]
  4. Eleanor Wright, born August 30, 1762; married, December 17, 1795, Job Kittredge, of Tewksbury.[17][18]
  5. Beulah Wright, born October 7, 1764.[19]

He belonged to Woburn 1st Church, 1756. He was a selectman 1776-1777.[1]

Thomas Wright died in Woburn on June 13, 1795, at the age of 86. According to his Find A Grave: Memorial #150086115, he was buried at the First Burial Ground in Woburn (See Research Notes).[1][20]
