There were two Margaret Wyatt's born in Braunton at approximately the same time, and these are the only two girls named Margaret Wyatt whose births are recorded in the Braunton parish records between 1538 and 1592. A Margret, daughter of Phillip Wyott, was baptized at Braunton on 5 Sept 1555. Another Margret, this one the daughter of Walter Wyott, was baptized at Braunton on 19 May 1557.[1]
It is unknown which of these Margaret Wyatts became the wife of Richard Allen. However, Walter Wyatt is probably a better fit. Had she been the daughter of Philip, she would have been 28 years of age at the time of her marriage, highly unlikely for the time period.
Margaret Wyatt (Wyott) married Richard Allen on September 24, 1583 at Braunton, Devonshire.[1][2]
Their children include the following, all baptized at Braunton, Devonshire:[1]
Margaret, wife of Richard Allen was buried on May 10, 1642 at Braunton, and "Richarde Allin senr" was buried there on August 6, 1651[1]
Disputed mother of George Allen - see that profile for more information.
There was no George born into this family. It was never used as a family name by any of the siblings.
