Biography

The exact year of Samuel's birth is unknown, but per the 1850 Census it was in 1790. [1] He may have been born a few years later than that, given the estimated marriage date of his parents, Edmond and Mary (Collett) Wyatt He was most likely their eldest child. He was born in Pendleton County, Virginia prior to his parents move to Randolph County in the early 1800's.

Samuel Wyatt in the Randolph County 1830 Census has the following in his household: one boy under 5, one boy 5-9, one boy 10-14, a man 40-49. one girl under 5, one girl 10-14, and one woman 40-49.[2]

In the Randolph County 1840 Census Samuel Wyatt's household has 2 boys 10-14, one young man 20-29, one man 50-60, two girls under 5, one girl 5-9, one girl 10-14, one woman 20-29, one woman 30-39. [3]

In the 1850 Census, the last in which Samuel appears, he and his wife, Matilda and their daughter, Matilda, 19, are living in the household of William Johnson. William was married to Indiana Johnson, Samuel's daughter. [4]

Samuel and his wife Matilda are also named as the parents in the record of death of their children Samuel and Matilda who both died in September 1855 in Randolph County. [5] (This source is for Samuel (Junior), but his sister Matilda is recorded directly under his name.)

From the cited Census records they may have had 8 children in all, 3 boys and 5 girls. Some of these children are possibly (see their profiles) the following:
