Biography

dau. and co-heir of William Wycliffe, of Wyecliffe, Esq.

Of Scargill, Lord of Wyclyffe, one half of which manor he acquired in right of his wife. He fought on the Royalists' side in the Civil War and, being taken prisoner by the Parliamentary forces on his return from Newark in 1645, was kept captive until 1947. He then obtained leave to compound for his estate and to produce writings howing that he had only a life interest therein.
