Biography

Hannah was born about 1743 in Virginia. She was the daughter of John Yates and Elizabeth Unknown.

"Pittsylvania County, Virginia Order Book 7, page 313, February 1794 Hannah Shelton granted administration of William Shelton deceased. Securities Elijah Yates, David Owen, William LeGrand, Peter Wilson, Abraham LeGrand, Charles Williams and William Ware. Description: Their claim or interest in land on the north side of the Dan River "Whereon Hannah Shelton now lives, it being all our part or parts of land which may or shall fall to us from the estate of William Shelton, Dec'd. Witnessed: George Adams, William Ross, Jeffry Gibson. Grantee: Josiah Shelton Grantors: William Shelton, Jr George Shelton Susanne Hammonds Ephraim Russell and wife Elizabeth Henry Hoiler and wife Anne (all of Pittsylvania County, Va.) Deed Book 13, pg. 538, Aug. 13, 1803, recorded Jan. 16, 1804" [1]

She passed away sometime after 1794 when she was named the administratrix of William's estate.

According to U.S. and International Marriage Records, 1560-1900, William Shelton b 1735 married Hannah Yates b 1743, Virginia in 1760 in Virginia.
Yates-3293 and Yates-935 appear to represent the same person because: Neither profile has any documentation, but they seem to be the same person married to the same man. Check their respective fathers out as well; they may need to be merged before these daughters can be.
