Biography

Jane Yaxley was born in 1822 in East Barsham, Norfolk, England to Thomas Yaxley and Ann (Billing) Yaxley.

Jane had one daughter born out of wedlock:

1. Sarah Ann Yaxley (1843-) [after Jane married she went by Sarah Ann Francis - Jane's husband Edward Francis may have been her father]

Jane Yaxley married Edward Francis on 6 Dec 1845 in East Barsham, Norfolk.^[1] The marriage was registered in Walsingham, Norfolk in the last quarter of the year.^[2]

Jane and Edward had seven children:

In 1851 Jane Francis (age 27, Carpenter Wife) lived at Walsingham Road in Great Snoring, Norfolk with her husband Edward (33, Carpenter) and three children: Sarah A (6, Scholar), William (5, Scholar), and Edward (0).^[3]

In 1861 Jane Francis (age 38, Carpenters Wife) lived at Church Street in Great Snoring with her husband Edward (42, Carpenter) and five children: Will (15, Agricultural Labourer), Edwd (10, Scholar), Robt (7, Scholar), Elizth (4, Scholar), and John (2).^[4]

In 1871 Jane Frances (age 48) lived in Great Snoring with her husband Edward (53, Carpenter) and six children: Sarah Ann (27, Dairy Maid), William (25, Agricultural Labourer), Edward (20, Shoemaker), Robert (17, Domestic Servant), Elizabeth (14, Scholar), and John (12, Scholar), as well as grandaugter Rosalie A (1).^[5]

In 1881 Jane Francis (age 58, Carpenters Wife) lived in Great Snoring with her husband Edward (62, Carpenter), daughter Elizabeth (23, Carpenters Daur), son John (21, Carpenters Son), and three grandchildren: Rose (10, Scholar), Albert (2), and Maude (0).^[6]

In 1891 Jane Francis (age 69) lived in Great Snoring with her husband Edward (74, Carpenter), son John (32, Agricultural Labourer), and grandson Albert (2 [12?], Scholar).^[7]

Jane Francis passed away in April 1892, aged 70 years. Her death was registered in Walsingham in the second quarter of the year.^[8] She was buried in Great Snoring on 8 April 1892.^[9]
