Philip is not listed in censuses in Catawissa either 1810 or 1820. YOST, along with Henry and Samuel, appears on a poll-list kept from a general election held in the schoollhouse at Conyngham, October 13, 1818, when the township included Sugarloaf, Black Creek, Butler and Hazle.
1820 he may be the Philip YOST who’s in Sugarloaf Tp., Luzerne Co. [Series: M33 Roll: 105 Page: 169 ].
1822 list of Sugarloaf taxpayers includes Philip YOST, Henry YOST, Samuel YOST.
1850 census in Roaring Creek Tp, Columbia Co PA shows a Philip YOST age 72 = b. 1778, a laborer, living next to John YOST 75 = b. 1775, presumably his brother, who has wife Mary; Philip is living with a younger John YOST age 25 who is a collier and a housekeeper Catherine ASHTON 55.
Some show a death date of 25 Jun 1848, but the 1850 census looks like he moved back to live with his brother John -- the census-estimated birth years match for both of them.[3][4]
