Mr. Elliot Eugene Youmans, age 91 of Blackshear, died late Thursday night February 15, 2007, at his residence following a brief illness.

He was born in Pierce County, but had moved to Florida in 1940 and had moved back to Blackshear in 1972. He was preceded in death by his parents Stephen Columbus Youmans and Irene Wildes Youmans and a brother Lonnie H. Youmans.

Mr. Youmans was in the Building Industry as a Superintendent on large construction jobs in the U.S., Caribbean, and South America. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Blackshear and was a 32 year member of the Okefenokee Lions Club where he was a Melvin Jones Fellow and had served on many Boards with the club. He was also a member of the Woodmen of the World. He was a lifetime member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Local 629 of Jacksonville, Florida.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years Thoris Bland Youmans of Blackshear, 2 daughters Karen Van Zant husband John of Phoenix, Arizona and Gail Y. Stokes husband Randy of Blackshear, 4 grandchildren Christa and Melissa Van Zant of Overland Park, Kansas, Michelle Stokes of Brunswick and Brian Stokes wife Suzanne of Loganville, Ga., 4 great grandchildren Randy Allen of Blackshear, Tyler, Zachary, and Colton Stokes all of Loganville, Ga., and a sister Irene Moore of Waycross and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held 11AM Monday in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 4-6PM Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
