I was born in Brisbane the second child of Albert Young & Margaret Rostron, we lived at 27 Stanhope St Mt Gravatt. I was a bookworm from a very young age, sang in the choir at the Uniting Church on Logan Road Holland Park, played softball for the Mt Gravatt Eagles, and participated in cross country running, reaching 4th in the Queensland open at the age of 16. I attended Mt Gravatt State School, then Mt Gravatt State High School, graduating in 1983. I started my first fulltime job in the Commonwealth Bank at 259 Queen St Brisbane on 9th January 1984. I subsequently worked at Sunnybank Plaza branch, then Inala Civic Centre branch, Clovelly Park SA branch, and then Inala again, finishing with the bank in late 1993, the first of many redundancies, this one being voluntary.
I first moved out in 1985 to a flat in Denman St Greenslopes, with my highschool sweetheart. We bought land at 4 Phoenix Ct Regents Park, and worked towards building our first house. The bank would not give me a staff home loan unless we were married or planning to marry within 9 months, so we organised a wedding. The house and land cost about $53000 which at the time was all we could afford. The builder was K.D. Phillips.

This is a courtesy email to share the After Adopting Orphans FAQ which explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the words "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.
