Research Notes
Patrick Spreng states that family tradition holds that Mary was half Cherokee and her mother, Elizabeth Cagle was a full-blooded Cherokee Indian. Wanda Haines, a Find A Grave Contributor, states that Mary Elvira was listed on the Dawes records as a Choctaw. Further research required on both claims.
