Charles Peter Young was born on December 12, 1844 in Haldimand, Canada West, son of David Peter Young (~1819–1900) and Barbara Ann Young (1823–1901).
Charles married Sarah Anne Thompson (born about October 27, 1845; daughter of William Thompson and Rebecca (Berry) Thompson). They were married on December 13, 1865 in Haldimand, Canada West.[1][2] Their children were:
In the 1871 census Charles (age 26) was living with his wife Sara A (age 25), and two sons: David T (age 4), and Wm Fred (age 2), in Caledonia, Haldimand, Haldimand-Norfolk, Ontario, Canada.[3]
Charles' wife Sarah Ann died in December 1877 in Oneida, Haldimand, Ontario; a few months after the birth of their youngest son.
Charles (age 33), son of David Young & Barbara Young, married his cousin Mary Catharine Poss (age 21) on 7 September 1878 in Dundas, Wentworth, Ontario, Canada. She was the daughter of David Poss and Anna Young.[4] They had three children:
In the 1881 census Charles (age 36), Farmer, was living with his wife Mary (age 24), and children: David (age 16), Mary ... (age 9), Lewis (age 6), and Charles C (age 1), in Oneida, Haldimand, Ontario, Canada. Their faith was C. Meth.[5]
Charles' wife Mary Catharine died on October 6, 1886 in Oneida, Haldimand, Ontario.
Charles (age 42, farmer, widowed, Methodist), son of David & Barbara, married Ellen Turner (age 29, spinster, Presbyterian) on 1 September 1888 in Dundas, Ontario, Canada. He had been residing in Oneida township. Ellen was the daughter of John Turner and Susan Christie. They were married by license by Solomon Cleaver. Witnesses were Ida A Cleaver and Clara M Bowman of Dundas.[6] Their children were:
In the 1891 census, Charles Young (age 46, farmer) was living with his wife Ellen (age 30), and children: Mary (18), Lewis (16), Charles E (10), Etta May (7), Aggie (2), Gertrude (7 months), in Oneida, Haldimand, Ontario. They were of Presbyterian faith.[7]
In the 1901 census Charles (age 56) was living with his wife Elem (Ellen, age 40), and six children: Aggie, Gertrude, Josie, Albert, Ernest, and Nellie, in Caledonia, Haldimand, Ontario, Canada. They were of Methodist faith.[8]
In the 1911 census Charles (age 66, bookkeeper/office), was living with his wife Ellen (age 50), and four children: Albert (17, grocer/shop), Earnest (age 14, salesman/shop), Ellen (12), and Stanley (9), in Brantford, Ontario, Canada.[9]
Charles died on April 10, 1916 in Barton, Wentworth, Ontario, Canada, aged 71.[10] He was buried in Riverside Cemetery, Cayuga, Haldimand County, Ontario.[11]
