Margaret was born in 1830, the daughter of Edward Young and probably Sarah Cassner. She was born in New Jersey and moved at a young age to Brantford, Canada. She found her way to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she had a millener shop in the Pantland Hotel. She married stage coach driver Norman Richardson in 1863 and they established a farm in Plainfield Township, Michigan. They had two children, Cora and DeWitt. Margaret died in 1911 and is buried in Plainfield Cemetery in Kent County, Michigan.
