• The 1860 Census shows Hannah Young but not Mary, b. 1839 in New York ... could this be Mary? Or could this be William's new wife, Amanda, and there was either a transcription error or a census taker's error.^[1]

In about 1840 he married Mary Matilda Smith in New York and they had 5 children; Mary, Nancy, John, Angeline, and Ammi. Mary died between 1854 - 1858 and on Nov 5, 1858, William married Amanda Austin in Ogle County Illinois. William and Amanda had 10 children; Alfonzo, William, Zilpha, Almira, Matilda, Brigham, Willard, Lucy, Martha, and Olive. Before 1868 William and Amanda moved to Homer, Webster County, Iowa and then later moved to Center Grove in Dickenson County. William died between 01 Jun 1880 - 01 May 1883 from consumption.
