Biography

Sir George Young, 3rd Bt. was born on 15 September 1837 and was the son of Captain Sir George Young, 2nd Bt. and Susan Young.

The June 1841 census[1]shows George residing with his family at Formosa Cottage, Cookham, Berkshire, England, United Kingdom.

The March 1851 census[2]shows George as a Resident of Parsonage House, Goring, Berkshire, along with his brothers Edward Young and William Young, where they studied as Scholars under the tutorship of Richard Wace.

The April 1861 census[3]shows George continuing to reside with his family at Formosa Cottage, Cookham.

In 1871, George (age 35), the son of Susan Lady Young lived in in Cookham, Berkshire, England.[4]

George, a bachelor, married [5]Alice Young, widow of Alexander Lawrence on 10 October 1871[6]in the parish church of St. Andrew, Holborn, Middlesex. At the time of the ceremony George, a Baronet and Barrister at Law, resided in Lincoln's Inn, Holborn and Alice Young was residing in the parish of Cookham. His father George Young is noted as a Baronet and a Royal Naval Captain and his father in law Evory Kennedy is noted as an Esquire and Doctor of Medicine.

The April 1881 census[7][8]shows George residing in Hyde Park Gate, Chelsea, Middlesex. England.

The April 1891 census[9]shows George, a Barrister and Charity Commissioner, is noted as a visitor in the household of Maria Collins, a ninety year old widow who lived on her own means in Sloane Street, Chelsea.

The March 1901 census[10]shows George residing back at the house he grew up in at Formosa Cottage, Cookham.

In April 1911[11], George (age 73), a former barrister of the civil service, now retired on pension, was the head of household in[12]in a twenty seven roomed property at Formosa Place, Cookham.

George, late of Formosa Fishery, Cookham[13][14][15][16]passed away on 4 July 1930 in Berkshire, His passing was registered[17][18]during the third quarter of 1930 in the district of Maidenhead, Berkshire. George was laid to rest[19]with a memorial inscription added to his father's George Young Vault at Holy Trinity Churchyard, Cookham. George's estate passed probate on 22 July 1930 in London, England[20]detailing effects of £9,436 5s 9d to his son Sir George Young, a member of the Royal Victorian Order (MVO) and Baronet.

He was Justice of the Peace (J.P.) Berks 1860. He gained the title of 3rd Baronet Young, of Formosa Place, Cookham. He was Trin College Cambridge (MA, Fell), Doctor of Law (LL.D.) (Hon) St Andrews
