Biography

Nathan J. YOUNG was born about 1820 in Pennsylvania, United States.[1][2] He was the son of Mathew Young and Lucy Unknown.

Nathan married Nancy B [Unknown]. They had a son Irwin M Young, born about 1848/1849 in Pennsylvania.

In the 1850 United States census, Nancy and Irwin (1 year old) were living with Nathan's parents, Matthew and Lucy Young, in Warren, Pennsylvania.[3]

In the 1860 United States census, Nathan Young (born about 1820 in Pennsylvania) was living with Nancy Young (about 1820 in Pennsylvania) and son Irvine (about 1848 in Pennsylvania). They were farmers. A Ruth Young was living with them; she was identified as a servant, 15 years old, from New York.[1]

In the 1870 United States census, Nathan J Young (born 1820/1821 in Pennsylvania) was married to Nancy B Young (born 1820/1821 in Pennsylvania). They were living in Pennsylvania with their son Irwin M Young (born 1848/1849 in Pennsylvania). They were farmers.[2]

Note

Nathan's parents are believed to be Mathew and Lucy Young, as listed in this profile. This is consistent with Nancy and Irwin living with Mathew and Lucy in the 1850 census. (Further evidence that the father's name was Mathew is that this census indicates one son was Mathew Jr.) However the History of Bradford County identifies Nathan's parents as Nathan and Lucy Young, who moved to Pennsylvania from New Hampshire around 1815.[4] It appears that this reference incorrectly lists his father as Nathan rather than Mathew.
