Elknah Harrison Young , one of the oldest retired farmers of Jersey County died at eight fifty o'clock Sunday evening , July 21st, at his home nine miles northeast of Jerseyville, Death resulted from infirmities of old age. . Young was the son of the late Phillip and Elizabeth Beach Young, and was born in South Carolina, January 14,1850. At the time of his death ha had attained the advanced age of ninety years ,six months and seven days.
He passed away in 1940.
