Biography

Marriage 1: Jefferson Young To Lucy Witt - March 12, 1834 in Whitley County, Kentucky. [no record][1] Note: there was no children nor wife in the 1840 Census record of T. J. YOUNG listed in next note.

In 1840 Census of Whitley County, Kentucky, there was an individual who was listed as T. J. YOUNG, and in the Age Bracket of 20 to 30 Years. No other individuals were enumerated in this household so the individual may have been a different individual than what has been seen in the 1850 and 1860 census households.[2]


Marriage 2: Thomas Jefferson Young to Nancy Petrey - June 26, 1845 in Whitley County, Kentucky. [3]

In the 1850 Census Record, there are 2 different individuals. Individual 1: Jeff YOUNG, age 36 and Born in Kentucky.[4] Listed in his own household and with an individual who appears to be his wife, Nany YOUNG (age 31 Years and born in Kentucky. Also listed are the following children:

Rachel YOUNG, Age 15 Years, born in Kentucky
William YOUNG, Age 13 Years, born in Kentucky
Ann YOUNG, Age 12 Years, born in Kentucky
Rebecca YOUNG, Age 9 Years, born in Kentucky
Paschal YOUNG (male), Age 7 Years, born in Kentucky
Simon YOUNG, Age 5 Years, born in Kentucky
John YOUNG, Age 2 Years, born in Kentucky
James YOUNG, Age 8 Months, born in Kentucky

Individual 2: Thomas Young, Age: 23 Years and Born in Kentucky. Listed in the household of John YOUNG.[5]

It is obvious that these two individuals are not the same person.

The 1860 Household of Jefferson YOUNG, age 48 Years is also different than the one found in 1850. In this household Nancy YOUNG appears as Age 30 Years and the following children were also listed:[6]
