DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Abraham by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Abraham:

So much more work needed here...

I have used Color codes to define the paternal patriarch YDNA of todays Youngbloods. Below are the major lines (families) and branches. Note the following based on the Youngblood YDNA Project and the current YDNA profiles by color code.

GREEN YDNA pattern is for patriarch John Miles YB SRc1708 and Henry Miles YB c1730, John Miles YB JRc1734 of St Georges, Baltimore MD, James YB c1738? and Thomas YB c1736-1808 of all Johnston Co, NC (YDNA matches PURPLE c42/67 YDNA genetic markers-not the same family)

PURPLE YDNA pattern is for Peter c1725-1795 of Edgefield and sons Jacob c1750, Lewisc1748-1822, Johnc1746, Abrahamc1760 and George c1765-c1808; (Peter appears to have had a brother and a son John just to confuse his records even more…their YDNA will be near if not exactly the same) Amos Caril YB c1775 matches this group 37/37. Abraham c1760 is an uncle to Abraham c1770(wife Amy McNeil) who is the son of John and Mary YB PURPLE and not John Miles YB GREEN. Abraham has brothers Joshua c1766(wife Mary Catherine McNeil) and likely Isaac and possibly others who match 37/37 but unconfirmed. More to prove here. (DAR records)

PURPLE/35 YDNA pattern is for Peter c1732-1788 and sons Samuel c1754 (DAR records), Lewis c1760-1808 and Joseph c1762-c1830+; This Joseph and Lewis are close cousins to the Lewis and Joseph above (YDNA matches PURPLE 65-66/67 YDNA genetic markers – the major distinction is a mutation at genetic marker 35)

PURPLE/10 YDNA pattern is for Wm c1725 and his son Peter c1745-c1792 of Charleston, SC. For now, this William is thought to be the brother of Peter YBc1732-88 son of Peter YB c1700-1770- all Naturalized in 1739. This is not proven to my satisfaction. (YDNA matches PURPLE 35/37 YDNA genetic markers – the distinction is a mutation at genetic marker 10) Marker DYS389i mutates up by one count. DYS38ii is an overlap region with DYS389i which appears to show a mutation on the display but actually is not. We desperately need more test members from this group to allow a better decision. BIG Y has confirmed what we expected that PURPLE, PURPLE/35 share a common ancestor within 3 generations of 1700. We expect PURPLE/10, BLUE and GRAY will show the same result. GREEN is not related in this time frame but again for now , BIG Y is costly and no GREEN members have take the test. I have now submitted my YDNA sample for the BIG Y test and I do expect I will match the results of PURPLE and PURPLE / 35 in having with them a common ancestor within 3 generations. My ancestor GRAY lived next door to BLUE who lived on the same SC Creek as PURPLE just a few miles away. This is one family showing slight YDNA marker mutations among "Grandsons".

BLUE YDNA pattern is for James c1740-1791 (DAR Records) (YDNA matches PURPLE 64/67 YDNA genetic markers) This James is the father of Jeremiah YB c1765, Eli and Thomas. **Note this James is not the James - son of John Miles YB above-two distinct men named James born around the same time in the same state but not county.

GRAY YDNA pattern is for Thomas c1745-1822 (DAR Records) (YDNA matches PURPLE 65/67 YDNA genetic markers – close cousins on 1750 time frame) **Note this Thomas is not the Thomasc1736-1808 - son of John Miles YB above-two distinct men named Thomas born around the same time in the same state but not county. GRAY YDNA matches BLUE YDNA 65/67 YDNA genetic markers…very close relatives.

AQUA YDNA pattern is for the Youngblood line in VA and WVA in the middle 1700s A key to understanding this family is that all PURPLE, BLUE and GRAY are ONE family…with distinct 1 – 3 YDNA Mutations at 67 Markers that are significant to point to specific “sons or grandsons “ that we can identify of a common ancestor as yet an unproven unknown Youngblood c1700 or few generations earlier in SW Germany – likely Palatinate.

Unknown Patterns exist for late arrivals, no YDNA match, NPE, or unconfirmed lineages that we have not been able to confirm, etc. Some of these are large, well recognized families. For now, most of the NPEs have been found to be sons of Youngblood women who for whatever reason did not marry the YDNA father. I do very much consider these NPE’s my Youngblood family members. It is actually a little more complicated.

There are two Abraham Youngbloods born in the 1760s- One Abraham born c1760, died c1797 in Edgefield, SC the son of Peter YB c1725-1795 of Edgefield formerly of GA and Orange County , NC by land deed and YDNA (and other). Other known sons are Jacob, Lewis, and George (possible John)

Abraham #2 is born in c1769 (c1770 is fine). His father is John YB by land deed and by YDNA. Peter YB c1725 in Orange Co, NC (later Chatham Co) sold land to John YB and a wife Mary. It is my belief Peter and John are brothers and thus YDNA for brothers will be the same. Both Abrahams match YDNA. There has been discussion that this John is the son of Peter YB c1725 instead and thus also the YDNA would be identical for a son.

BOTH Abrahams match YDNA 37/37 YDNA genetic markers...as they would/should of sons of brothers. Also, sons and first cousins- George, Lewis, Jacob, Joshua, Isaac and Amos match BOTH Abrahams by YDNA and thus Peter c1725 and brother John.

John Miles YB Jr c1734 and John Miles YB SR c1708 should be nowhere in either tree for either Abraham Youngblood c1760 or c1769 or Joshua, Amos et al. John Miles YB needs to be removed from any association with the Peter and John YB mentioned above and their sons.

Abraham is attached to the wrong Youngblood family. DNA shows he is descended from the Peter Youngblood line, https://www.familytreedna.com/public/YoungbloodsOfEdgefieldSC?iframe=ycolorized

Please detach from the John Miles Youngblood line. Thank you.
