Francis was born in Punjab. By 1871, he was in England, living with his aunts Eliza and Ann, for his education.[1] Sir Francis Younghusband was a noted explorer and British colonial. He held the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the British Army. He led the first European expedition into Lhasa, Tibet.
His wife was Helen Magniac, daughter of Charles Magniac MP.
Sir Francis was elected President of the Royal Geographical Society and served between 1919 and 1922. [2]
He died in 1942.[3]
