Biography

Cora Luella Younker was born in Iowa December 18, 1873.^[1] one of the twin daughters of Jeremiah Younker and Adelia Goodsell. Cora Younker's twin sister was named Dora Estella Younker. ^[2]

Cora Younker, along with her twin sister, Dora, can be found at the age of 6 on the 1880 US census for Albion Twp., Butler Co., Iowa, in the household of their parents, Jeremiah and Adelia A. Younker, with their older siblings, George S., Isaac D., Ada E., Edward, Elmer, and Ella Younker.

Cora L. Younker can be found at the age of 11 on the 1885 Iowa State Census in Albion, Butler County, in the household of her parents, Jeremiah and Adelia A. Younker, along with her siblings, Draper, Ada E., Edward H., Ella E., Elmer E., and her twin, Dora E. Younker.

On September 11, 1893, Cora Younker was married to William "Flagg" Reynolds in Lyon, Iowa, USA. The bride was approximately 20 years old, the groom approx. 28. He was the son of "Constanse" Reynolds and "Maranda" /Wicks/ Reynolds. ^[4]

Reynolds can be found at the age of 27 on the 1900 US census for Sioux Falls City, Ward 2, Minnehaha County, South Dakota, along with her husband, Floyd ("Willard") Reynolds, and their three children, Grant M., Lois M., and Donald F. Reynolds. According to the census, Cora and Willard had been married for 6 years. Cora had given birth to 3 children, all of whom were alive when the 1900 census was taken.

Cora L. Reynolds can be found on the 1905 South Dakota State Census, at the age of 31. According to the census, Cora was married, and had lived in South Dakota for six years. Cora's birth year (given as 1874), is not explicitly stated, but is calculated from her age when the census was taken. According to the census, she was born in Iowa. Both of her parents were born in Pennsylvania.^[6]

Cora (transcribed "Cara") L. Reynolds can be found at the age of 36 on the 1910 US census for Flandreau ED 353, Moody County, South Dakota, along with her husband, W. (transcribed "N") Flagg Reynolds, and their children, Malcolm G., Lois Mildred, Donald Flagg, Earl Stanley, and Theodore L. Reynolds. Flagg Reynold's occupation was listed as "insurance".

Cora Reynolds can be found at the age of 46 on the 1920 US census for Pipestone ED 178, Pipestone County, Minnesota, along with her husband W. F. Reynolds, and their children, Earl, Teddie, and Dorothy Reynolds.

By 1930, the family had moved to California. Cora L Reynolds can be found at the age of 53 on the 1930 US census for Orange Twp., ED53, Orange County, California, along with her husband, Willard Flagg Reynolds ("W Flagg Reynolds"), and their daughter, Dorothy M. Reynolds.

In 1940, the family can be found in Orange, Orange Judicial Township, Orange County, California, United States.^[10]

• It isn't completely clear from this citation that it is Cora's death that is listed here, as it also lists her as the daughter of the subject. However, the birthdate and other information fits hers. (Record is not a microfilm, but has been typed in and may have errors.)

There is another website (the "Kenneth-Lyle-Baumgartner" genealogy webpage on genealogy.com), that supports Cora's death date as 1949. ^[12]

According to her Findagrave memorial page, which can be viewed at https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/47994798/cora-s-reynolds, Cora Reynolds, (who was mistakenly named "Cora S. Reynolds" on the Findagrave website), died on July 4, 1949 at the age of 74-75, and was buried in New Woodlawn Cemetery in Pipestone, Pipestone County, Minnesota, USA. A photograph of her grave marker does show her name, Cora, followed by the middle initial "L". Findagrave also states that she died in Pipestone County, Minnesota where she was buried, but the Orange County, California death record calls that information into question. She WAS buried in MInnesota, though.

Cora "L" Reynolds' Findagrave site shows that she is buried in Pipestone, Pipestone County, Minnesota, USA. The Findagrave site (at the time of this writing) incorrectly gives her middle initial as "S", although her marker, shared with her husband "W.F. Reynolds", clearly does have the initial "L" engraved next to her given name.
