Biography

Katherine Zimmerman, from "Byrne", Germany , was 30 according to the U.S. Census of 1860. At that time she was raising 6 Ohio-born children with her husband George Miltner, In Cleveland.

Alternate sources put her origin in Hamburg or Mannheim, and their New York marriage in 1849. A detailed account has Rev. Marcus Murphy uniting them at St. Peter's Church in New Brighton, Staten Island N.Y. in 1851.

They were members of St. Mary-of-the-Flats parish on Jersey Street, Cleveland's east side.
