Birth

John William Zimmerman was born on 3 November 1844 in Germany or Prussia. (His German name according to family was Hans Joachim Zitscher, but there are no actual records shown with that name. His father died in Germany and his mother died in Kansas.)

Death

John was shot and killed while he was on a drunken rampage of abusing his son on 23 February 1897. It seems that John was an abusive tyrant and son Robert could take no more and feared to be killed. There's a long newspaper article about the entire unpleasant episode on the Find A Grave site. The remains were buried in the Sabetha Cemetery, Sabetha, Nemaha, Kansas. PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE the placement of the reference and footnote notations. 1/2 of the census data and other is lost if you do. No rule that I know of that says you have to have no space between "Sources" and References or can't have footnotes. And yes, I have read the "Help" page. Thank you.
