Niclaus was christened on 23 October 1670. His parents were Hans Zimmerman und Barbara Gilgen. [1]

Niclaus Christen married Verena Spring on 10 November 1693. [2]

21. Hans Zimmerman, b. 7 Dec 1635, Steffisburg. He was married to Barbara Gilgan. He was an Anabaptist at Alsace in 1703.

215. Niclaus Zimmerman, b. 13 Oct 1670, Steffisburg. He was married to Verena Spring on 10 Nov 1693 at Steffisburg. They were Anabaptists and moved out of Steffisburg on 26 May 1695. He may have been the Nicholas who purchased a house in Fortelbach, Alsace with Peter Joder in 1699. He was living at Markirch in 1703 and 1708 with the Amish. He arrived in Philadelphia on 28 Aug 1733 on the ship Hope with a large group of Mennonites. He was listed as age 63 and had his younger children with him, Hans, age 16, Christian, age 14, Barbara, age 20 and Anna, age 18. He died intestate in Lancaster County in 1739. He probably left his older children in Europe. 2151. Anna Zimmerman, b. 2 Dec 1694, Steffisburg.

2153. Anna Zimmerman, b. 1715. She married Michael Hildebrand.

2154. Hans Zimmerman, b. 1717. He died in 1786 in Earl Township, Lancaster County. He was married to Anna Weaver, daughter of Henry Weaver. Anna died in 1784. He wrote his will on 9 Jan 1780 and it was proved 2 Feb 1786. The executors were Peter Zimmerman and Henry Martin. He was taxed at Earl Township in 1750. He was a Mennonite.

2155. Christian Zimmerman, b. 1719. He was married to Barbara, probably the sister of Mathias Stauffer of Earl Township, Lancaster County. Her father was Christian Stauffer of Manheim, Germany who died at Salford Township, Montgomery County. Christian Zimmerman died in 1788 in Earl Township. Barbara died in 1784. Christian named his children in his will. He was a Mennonite.

Perhaps this Niclaus Zimmerman was actually the son of Hans Zimmerman and Madli Stouffer, bapt. 16 Jan. 1663/4 at Steffisburg. This was a known Anabaptist (Amish) family.
