Biography

Sophia was born on August 4, 1828 in Millville, Butler County, Ohio. [1] She was the daughter of Jacob Zinn and Catherine Kumler. At 21, She was still in their home in Hanover Buttler, Ohio in 1850. [2]

She married John Ewing Dunkin (1832-1922) on May 13, 1852 in Carroll County, Indiana.[3] They had one child.

  1. Elizabeth 'Vestina' Ann Dunkin

They made their home in Carrollton, Carroll County, Indiana. in 1870, where he ran a Saw Mill, while Sophia tending the home and Elizabeth was in school.[4] In 1880, he was Driving a Hack, while Sophia kept the home and Vestina was a School Teacher.[5] At the age of 71, she, John-68 and Vestina-42, were in Carrollton Twp., Carroll County, Indiana in 1900, were at this time John was a Fruit Grocer[6]John and Sophia-81 had a Fruit Farm in 1920.[7]

She passed away on May 17, 1914, at the age of 85, in Carroll County, Indiana and was buried in the Deer Creek United Brethren Cemetery in Deer Creek, Carroll County, Indiana.[1]
