	Bruce McEwen Jun 24, 2020 Mcquown was the name they were called in on most sources. The name McEwen was adopted by some in the family in later years while the rest remained with the McQuown spelling. Since most early settlers were illiterate, those making lists of name for taxes, properties, militia muster rolls used phonetic spelling for the name.
