The Royal Navy (RN) is the principal naval warfare force of the United Kingdom.
On Wikitree
Wikitree retains the common usage; thus ships pre-dating the Acts of the Union in 1707/1708 that were held to establishment of the Royal English Navy are held under the category Royal Navy; this category. Ships held to establishment of the Royal Scots Navy are retained under the Royal Scots Navy category.
Naming Convention. The naming convention to be used for ship categorisation is the same in use on wikipedia, that is HMS <ship name> <(date of launch or pennant number)>. HMS Achates (1573) illustrates this convention. Ships can be grouped by ship name, such as HMS Achates, or by individual ship hull, as illustrated by HMS Hobart (1794). If creating a ship as a category please include context regarding the ship and its history. If not sure ask one of the leads in the United Kingdom Project team.
