DAILY DISPATCH READ DAILY ON FRONT IN FRANCE The Daily Dispatch is bringing the news of Brainerd to Crow Wing county boys battling in France and the papers are arriving on regular schedule, according to Sulo Alanen, Brainerd soldier, in a letter to this paper's circulation department.

"I sure was glad to see the first copy arrive," Alanen writes, "But I sure am missing my walleye and northern pike and other swell fishing. Is there any known means by which you can ship Gull lake over here?"

REPORT PVT. SULO ALANEN KILLED IN BELGIUM JAN. 19 Pvt. Sulo A. Alanen, son of Edward Alanen, 1301 Pine street, has been killed in action on Jan. 19 in Belgium, according to a report received from the adjutant general of the United States.

Pvt. Alanen, who entered the army early in 1942, had been stationed in England for the past two years.

He served in the infantry."^[1]
