Biography
Peter was born in 1837. In 1862, he married Else Nilsdotter. She had an infant son, Nils August, who Peter legitimized, though the boy was not Peter's biological son. Nils emigrated to the US at age 10. Peter and Else had five children together, one of whom they lost to diphtheria in 1875. Peter was widowed in 1878 when Else passed away from tuberculosis at age 36. Between 1880 and 1890, three more of Peter's and Else's children emigrated, all except for daughter Clara. Clara left home in 1893. With all the children gone, Peter moved elsewhere in Höganäs in 1895. From 1895 he is listed under "Invalids (former workers in the coal mine)", later called "pensioners". In his final years, daughter Clara and her family lived with Peter. He passed away at age 85.
