Daughter of William Penn Alysworth (1836-1907) and Mary Ann Lanigan (1851-1909).

Archibald and Effie lived in Binghamton, Broome, New York but owned sheep farms in Australia.
Mrs. Whitelaw Dies at Home
Mrs. Effie Aylesworth Whitelaw, prominent in community affairs for more than three decades, died this morning at her home, 50 Riverside Drive, after and illness of several months.
The widow of Archibald Whitelaw, until his deaath in 1937 vice president of Fowler, Dick & Walker, Mrs. Whitelaw had suffered a heart ailment. She was born in Muscatine, Iowa in 1875.
Mrs Whitelaw is survived by two daughters, Mrs Leon G Kennedy of this city and Mrs. James W. Blewer of Johnstown N. Y.; a brother Jerome Aylesworth of Omaha, Neb; a sister, Mrs. Blanche Overmier of Maryville, Mo; three grandchildren, Miss Barbara Blewre and Archibald and Ann Kennedy.
A member of the Christ Episcopal church. Mrs. Whitelaw was active for many years in several organizations, particularly the American Red Cross and the Binghamton Y.W.C.A. She was a past director in each of the organizations.
A life member and past president of the Monday Afternoon club. Mrs. Whitelaw also was a former member of the board of directors of the House of the Good Shepherd and a member of the Binghamton Garden Club. She was an honorary member of the Girls Club and the Binghamton Civic Club and also a director in the Sixth Judicial District of the New York State Federation of the Women's Clubs.
Mrs. Whitelaw spent many years in mental hygiene work with local and state organizations. In the Red Cross she devoted much time to nutrition work.
The body was removed to the George Scholderer Funeral Home, 269 Chenango Street. The funeral will be at the Whitelaw home at a time to be announced.
