Biography

John AMEY was born on 11 March 1789 and christened on 15 March in Cranborne, Dorset, England[1]. His parents were Thomas AMEY and Flower HASKELL.

Elizabeth LAWFORD and John AMEY were married on 15 November 1810 in Ringwood, Hampshire, England[2].

16 July 1832, John was convicted of theft at Southampton Assizes in England and sentenced to transportation to the colonies for 7 years. He set sail aboard the convict ship, Aurora on 3 July 1833 and arrived on 3 November 1833 in Sydney, Colony of New South Wales. He received his Ticket of Leave on 8 April 1838 and Certificate of Freedom on 26 April 1842. From 1850 he was a farmer at Alberton in Colony of Victoria.[3]

He passed away on 13 June 1866 in Alberton, Colony of Victoria[4] and was buried at the Alberton Cemetery[5]
