Biography

Lewis Amis was a Virginia colonist.

James Lewis Amis, or Lewis, was born about 1757 or 1760 in Essex County, Virginia.^{[citation needed]}

Lewis removed to Granville County, North Carolina, before 1781.

Lewis married Elisabeth Knight after 25 December 1781, when Lewis obtained a marriage license, and William Davis posted bond with him.^[1]

On 30 November 1792, Lewis posted bond for the marriage of his sister Hannah to John Ogilvie.^[2]

Lewis died August 1825 at Abraham Springs, Granville, North Carolina.^{[citation needed]}
