William Anderson was born 22 Jun 1805 (date from tombstone inscription) in Montgomery County, Virginia,[1] the son of Jacob Anderson and Christianna Wysor. He is named as a son in his father's 1833 will, recorded 1842 in Pulaski, Virginia.
The area where the Jacob Anderson family resided in Montgomery County would later be part of Pulaski County in 1839.
William married (1) Hetty Carper 26 Jan 1829 in Montgomery, Virginia, with the consent of her father (see media). She was the daughter of John and Eve Carper.[2] They were parents of the following children:

Following the death of his first wife in 1859, he married (2) Juliet P Brooks, the widow of Richard Eaton, 12 Oct 1869 in Giles, Virginia. She was the daughter of William and Mary Brooks.[3][4]
William inherited is father's farm in 1842 and his mother made her home with him until her death in 1846. William was an executor for the estate of his parents. On 16 Sep 1848, the orphan's of Nancy Shepherd, his sister's children who were living in Macon County, Illinois, appointed their uncle, John Anderson, of Fountain County, Indiana, Power of Attorney for the settlement of their share of Jacob Anderson's estate (Pulaski, VA, Deed Bk 2, p. 187).[4]
William Anderson died 8 Mar 1891 in Dublin, Pulaski, Virginia. He is buried in the Anderson-Vickers Cemetery, Highland.[1]
