Biography

Raymond was born in 1918. He was the son of George Andrys and Marie Hatry. He passed away in 1984.

Branch of Service: Army Air Force. Dates of Service: Oct. 21 1942 to Oct. 16, 1945. Rank at time of discharge: Sergeant. Theatre of war: Asiatic-Pacific Theatre. Decoration or honors: Asiatic Ribbon “From Air Forces Raymond Andrys Discharged” Langdon Man Stationed at Hawaiian Base as Radio Repairman

Sixty-one points as an aircraft radio repairman, stationed on the Hawaiian Islands for more than two years make Sgt. Raymond J. Andrys of Langdon eligible for his discharge November 16 at Camp McCoy Wisc. from the Sixth night fighter squadron. Sgt. Andrys arrived at Langdon November 20 to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Andrys, and other relatives and friends.

Inducted into the army October 21, 1942, at Fort Snelling, he went on active duty on November4 after basic training at Sheppard Field, Tex.; he was transferred to Chanute Field, Ill. for a course in teletype maintenance at the air force technical school. Overseas training at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., followed before embarkation for Hawaii June 7, 1943. Sgt. Andrys has been stationed at Kipapa air field near Honolulu most of the time. Combat pilots were trained at the field and planes prepared for action.
