Biography
Perley Augustus is a part of US Black heritage.
Perley was born about 1889 in Chelsea, Suffolk, Massachusetts, USA. She was the daughter of Joseph Augustus and Louisa Reed.
She died April 30, 1891 in Chelsea, Suffolk county, Massachusetts and cause of death was tuberculosis. Age was unknown and burial took place in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family's residence was 174 Spruce and parents were listed as Joseph B. born Pennsylvania and Louis J. born New Hampshire.[1]
Research Notes
Since the person making the death record note did not know this child's age and stated it was a girl, the fact that a birth was found for a boy in 1889 makes one question whether the info on the death record is accurate and perhaps, it was actually a boy named Perley. [2]
