Family migration

John Baldridge had remained in Ulster Province in the far north of Ireland when his parents emigrated to America. In about 1733, in Coleraine, County Londonderry, John married Rebekah (Rebecca) Clark, who had been born in that area about 1720. With their then three young children, John and Rebecca (Clark) Baldridge also emigrated to Pennsylvania, purportedly aboard the "Village Belle", arriving in Phildadelphia in 1737. They colonized land in Martic Township in southern Lancaster County just a few miles northwest of John's parents.

In about 1765, John and some of his older sons, along with other Scotch-Irish neighbors, traveled to North Carolina and bought acreage in old Mecklenburg County (northwest of the present-day city of Charlotte). An abstract dated 13 May 1765, attesting to the purchase by John Baldridge of land along Indian Camp Creek and the Catawba River can be found in Tryon-Lincoln County Deeds, Volume 1, Pages 670-671. Three other deeds involving similar purchases or rentals of land in that area by John Baldridge appear on pages 155-159 of Volume 4, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, Deed Abstracts.

John returned to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, only to die there in late July 1766, before he could relocate his family to North Carolina. John Baldridge's Last Will and Testament, dated 15 July 1766, and filed for probate on 31 July 1766, was recorded in Will Book "B", Volume 1, page 448, Official Records of Lancaster County. It is generally considered that John Baldridge was buried in the cemetery of Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church, although there is no known tombstone bearing his name

Hi Lois

This profile's first name is probably "Susanna" as Susannae is the Latin genitive case form of the name, which would have been found in Catholic registers in Ireland.

It is not sufficient to write "Family Search" as your source on any of these older records. At WikiTree we are committed to accuracy in our OneWorld Tree and other members need to be able to look at your source and verify for themselves, how reliable it is. FamilySearch is only considered as a correct source for WikiTree if you cite the exact record (e.g. birth or death register in a specific parish) you are referring to - the easiest way of doing this is to copy and paste their citation record.

Please take a look at our Honor Code again especially Numbers II (Accuracy) and VIII (Sources) https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Honor_Code

Please do not create any more profiles that do not have acceptable sources. It seems that you need some help on sourcing. So I will be asking one of our mentors to get in touch with you.

Best wishes
