Molly was born in Litchfield in 1765[1], the seventh child and third daughter of Samuel Barnett and Ame Smith[2]
She married James Blair in Newbury, Vermont[3]. In the 1790 census, they were living in Bolton, Vermont, with two children (girls)[4]. They were in fact living right next door to Molly's older sister Hannah, wife of John Kennedy. And another of her siblings Samuel Barnett had been one of Bolton's very first settlers, but by 1790 in nearby Williston, Vermont.
In the 1800 Census, the family was living in nearby Jericho, Vermont, with 7 children (2 males, 5 females)[5]. The family then moved to Erie, Pennsylvania, where they are present on the 1810, 1820, 1830 and 1840 US Federal Censuses. In 1833, they removed from Pennsylvania to Ohio, where his oldest son had moved. But before 1848 they had returned permanently to Pennsylvania to live with the grandson. Their changes of address are identified in their Military Pension filings[6].
When Molly was 55 years old in 1820, James' stated in his pension file that his wife was in bad health. Given this knowledge, it is presumed that she passed away in the 1820's, also considering she was not mentioned in any subsequent pension file entry, nor has she been located on the 1830 census.
