Born 5 May 1891 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]

Military Service: 1916 (10 April)-1920 - Adelaide, South Australia. AIF[6] Details found on 1916 enlistment form include: number "33792", unit listed as "Depot Batallion" is crossed out, "20th Ref. Fld Art" is crossed out, 2/2AF is in red. "This person has had home leave" is written in red above Australian Imperial Force. A171249 at top left corner. "Gunner" is at top of paper. "Artillery" is written in capitals and crossed out. "E.W. Grypus Caps" is crossed out. "Arrived 10/4/16" is crossed out with "Fit" written next to it. "A coy" is written in top right corner. Cyril agreed to not less than 60% of his salary going to support his wife and child, which was an army requirement. Also listed is that his wife, Allie, was with father, William Burford, at Birralee, seawall, Glenelg, SA. 1939-1948 - Enlisted Keswick, South Australia. Service number S373. B884: Army Citizen Military Forces. [7]

Living with Jean Wilson Beale (wife) [16] 1941 - Jenkins Ave, Myrtle Bank, South Australia. The 1941 Electoral Roll lists both Jean Wilson Beale and Octavius Cyril Beale as living there. Jean's occupation is listed as home duties, and Cyril's as soldier.[17]

Married Jean Wilson Wald on 1 October 1927 in St. Michaels Church, Mitcham, South Australia, Australia. Newspaper article: St. Michaels Church, Mitcham, was the scene of a pretty wedding, on Saturday evening, October 1, when the marriage took place of Jean Wilson, younger daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Wald, of Largs Bay, with Cyril, son of Mr. and Mrs O C Beale, of Sydney. The church was beautifully decorated with masses of Arum lilies. The bride, who was given away by her brother in- law, Mr. Lindsay Bell, made a charming figure in her frock of beige georgette with with panels of heavy cream lace. Hat of straw in the same shade, trimmed with a large flower on-the-brim at the side; a posy of mauve and pink flowers was carried. Miss Nancy Wald (bride's sister) was the only bridesmaid, and wore a charming frock of white crepe de chine with bands of cross stitching in Oriental colourings at the neck, waist, and hem. Hat of lemon-coloured silk straw; a multi coloured posy of flowers was carried. Mr. H. W. Relf was Best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay Bell at Torrens Park to which only relatives and immediate friends were invited."[20]
