Biography

Joseph was born in 1778 in Augusta County, Virginia and a son of Joseph Beathe and Mary Unknown. Several of Joseph and Mary Beathe's children dropped the the "E" from the surname of Beathe and it makes the spelling of the surname very confusing. On my Beathe/Beath profiles, I use the spelling found on their tombstones. Most of Joseph's records use the Beath spelling. Joseph Beath married Barbara Moomaw, daughter of John Moomaw, on April 27. 1727 in Botecourt County, Virginia. Originally the surname was spelled Beathe and this was the name Joseph was born with, however, he and his line decided to use the spelling of Beath. He passed away in1830 and his burial details is unknown but somewhere In Ohio. Most likely in Ross County. [1]
