Ferne was born in 1922. She was the daughter of William Bebout and Myrtle Hendrix. She passed away in 2006.,

Ferne Elizabeth Bebout Cardwell was born August 23, 1923 in Springfield, Greene County, Missouri to William Eben Bebout and Myrtle Gusti Hendrix O'Connor Bebout. William Eben Bebout and Myrtle Hendrix O'Connor were both widowed when they married on February 2, 1921 in Greene County, MIssouri.

When William Eben Bebout married Myrtle Hendrix O'Connor, he had 2 daughters and one son and Myrtle had 2 sons.

On June 24, 1924, a new sister was born named Joyce Laverne Bebout. Ferne Bebout and her sister were only 10 months apart. Ferne's half brothers, Floyd Henry O'Connor, was 8 years old and Kenneth Patrick O'Connor was 6 years old.

The half brother on her father's side was Adolphus, who was 13 years old and half sisters, Ruby Emma Blanche Bebout was 17 years old and Pauline Irene Bebout was 16 years old.

On January 1, 1926, Myrtle Gusti Hendrix O'Connor Bebout passed away with tuberculosis. Her first husband had passed away with tuberculosis in 1919.

Myrtle Gusti Hendrix O'Connor Bebout's two sons were now orphans as their father died in 1919. One son, Kenneth Patrick O'Connor went to live with Myrtle's sister, Clara Ellen Hendrix Tackitt, in Gasconade County, Missouri. They eventually moved to Marshfield, Webster County, Missouri. He is with the family in the 1930 United States Federal Census. The other son, Floyd Henry O'Connor was living with George Miller in Springfield as George was his Guardian. The two daughters stayed with their father who remarried on October 24, 1927.

Ferne Elizabeth Bebout was born in Springfield but the family soon moved to California where she spent most of her life.

Ferne Elizabeth Bebout Cardwell married Robert Cardwell.

Ferne Elizabeth Bebout passed away on September 14, 2006 at the age of 84.

Ferne Bebout Cardwell was born in Springfield, Missouri on August 22, 1922.

Ferne Bebout Cardwell moved to Taft, California at a young age and spent the majority of her life in the Kerman/Fresno area.

Ferne Bebout Cardwell was an avid china painter and taught many ladies in the Kerman/Fresno area the art of china painting.

In the last few years, she was an active member of the Kerman United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed activities at the Kerman Senior Center.

Ferne Bebout Cardwell was preceded in death by her son, Robert Cardwell, Jr.; grandson, Robert Cardwell, III; along wth numerous brothers and sisters.

Ferne Bebout Cardwell is surived by her daughter, Barbara Schaad and her husband, Steve; granddaughters, Kimberly Ambrosini and her husband, Bryan, Kristy Beckett and her husband, Ricky, Stephanie Frost and her husband, Doug, and Robin Cardwell; seven great-grandhildren, Gianna and Bruno Ambrosini, Ricki Lynn, Rocky and Rylec Beckett, and Jersey and Jaxtyn Frost, and many nieces, grandnieces and great-grandnieces.

A graveside Service will be held at Fresno Memorial Gardens on Monday, September 18, 2006 at 10:00 a.m.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Kerman United Methodist Church in Kerman on Monday, September 18, 2006 at 11:00 a.m.

Remembrances may be made to Kerman United Methodist Church, 3095 N. Madera Ave., Kerman, CA 93630.

Burial was in Fresno Memorial Gardens at Fresno, Fresno County, California.
