Biography

Rachael was born in 1831. She passed away in 1916. Her husband predeceased her. The whole of her large family of six sons and six daughters survive her, viz.- Mrs John Archibald, of Bruthen, Mrs Glasgow, of Bena, Mrs George Hossack, of Coburg, Mr Peter Irvine of Orbost, Mr John B. Irvine, of Sale, Mrs W. Jennings, of East Bairnsdale, Cr. Chas. B. Irvine of Nicholson, Miss S. H. Irvine, of Pascoevale, Cr. W.B. Irvine ,of Bairnsdale, Miss Jessie Irvine, of Nicholson, Mr Robert L. Irvine ,of Shepparton, and Mr James F. Irvine, of Moonee Ponds.[1]

Death

Rachel Irvine died in Victoria, Australia 20 Jul 1916 at the age of 85[2][3][4] and was interred at Bumberrah Cemetery, Bumberrah, Victoria, Australia

Obituary

We regret to report the death of yet another old district identity in ihe person of Mrs Rachel Irvine, who died at her home," Glenirvine," Nicholson, last Thursday. Deceased, who had reached the advanced age of 85 years, had been' gradually failing in health for some time. She wasa colonist of 63 years. Her husband, Mr W. R. Irvine, predeceased her many years ago. A large grown-up family of six sons and six daughters survive deceased. They include Mrs J.Archibald, Bruthen; Mrs W.Jennings, Bairnsdale; Mrs W.Glasgow, Bena; Mrs G. Hossack,Coburg ; Miss Jessie Irvine, Nicholson ; Miss Sabina H. Irvine,Pascoevale; Cr C. B. Irvine, Nicholson ; Cr W. B. Irvine, Bairnsdale; Peter Irvine. Orbost; John B. Irvine, Sale: R. L. Irvine, Shepparton; James F, Irvine, Moonee Ponds. The remains of the deceased were conveyed to their last resting place, Bumberrah cemetery, on Saturday afternoon, the Rev. R. W. Mossom conducting the service at the graveside.[5]
