Burial 9-18-1952 at Midway Cemetary in Midway Township
Emil Helmer, my grandfather, owned a small dairy farm in Midway, St. Louis County, Minnesota. He had 80 acres, in two 40 acre parcels, separated from each other. He farmed the 40 he lived on, and the other was quite a walk away. In the summer, it was Bud's and my job to herd the cows down the road, and up the lane to their summer pasture.
Grandpa was a good man. Respected by everyone.
We lived with him and Grandma on the farm after my Dad died, until he couldn't farm anymore. His son, Hjalmer bought the farm, and Grandpa went to live with his daughter, Celia and her husband in Proctor where he died, several years later.
