Biography

John (born Giovanni) Bernero was a "House Painter" born in Italy in December of 1856.[1] John's dates of birth and death are on his gravestone in Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Hillside, Cook County, Illinois. [2]

John Bernero was the son of Domenico Bernero and Maria Pudista, both born in Italy. [3]

According to the 1900 U.S. Census, John had arrived in the United States in 1875 and had married 2 years later. John and Maria had eight children of whom Virginia was the youngest in 1900 and still in 1920. By the 1920 U.S. Census, Maria (listed as Ann) was widowed and living with Joseph, Mildred, Edith and Virginia.
