Private in the all-black 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry regiment, Company K. Enlisted on 28 April 1863 from Columbus, Ohio. He was 21 years old, single and working as a laborer when he enlisted. He died of smallpox on 18 May 1863 in Readville, Massachusetts.
