Sarah (Bews) Abbott migrated from England to Australia.

Sarah was baptised in 1807 in Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire, England. She was the daughter of William and Ann.[1]

In 1826 Sarah Bews married Giles Abbott in Burton Latimer.[2][3]

Sarah (aged 30) sailed from Spithead, Hampshire, England on 11 Jul 1836, with her husband, Giles (30), and children Ann (10), Anna (8), John (5) and Giles (1) aboard the HMS Buffalo. They arrived at Port Lincoln on 24 Dec and at Holdfast Bay (now Glenelg) on 28 Dec 1836. Giles' parents and at least 3 siblings arrived the following year aboard the "John Renwick".[4]

On 5th March 1846, their daughter, Emily, was born at Kensington, in the district of Adelaide, South Australia.[5] Sarah's surname was recorded as 'Bues'.

Sarah died in 1886 at the age of 80.[6]

    Two of our oldest colonists have just passed away in the persons of Mr. William Basham, sen., and Mrs. Abbott, relict of the late Mr. Giles Abbott, the former at 86, and the latter at 80 years of age. Both had resided in the district for over 40 years, and were much respected.
