Mary Blain was born on March 17, 1858 in Colmonell, Ayrshire, Scotland, United Kingdom, daughter of Thomas Blain (~1830–1906) and Mary Aitken (~1826–~1861).^[1]

Mary (33) married George Winskill (30) (born about June 1, 1861 in Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand; son of George Winskill and Ann (Monkhouse) Winskill) about 1892 in New Zealand.^[2] Their children were:
