Interned by the Enemy. (1917, ) [2] — Pte. Reuben Blechynden writes, 20th April, heading his letter :
"This is being dropped over our lines by a Taube. "
He says: "I am now a prisoner of war, with others. We are being treated well; and the German and Turkish officers are very kind. As far as I know, all the men in our company were killed or wounded, and some of us were at last taken prisoners. I will write every chance I get, and I think your letters will be forwarded me here. Please don't worry, as we are quite O.K." Pte. Reuben is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Blechynden, Blackwood road, Bridgetown.

(1919,) Trooper Reuben Blechynden, [4] who recently arrived in Fremantle after many months as a prisoner of war in Turkey, will be compelled to remain an inmate of the Base Hospital for at least six weeks.

A major highlight of the 1929 Centenary Show was the first District Display held in the newly completed Centenary Pavilion. Delegates from country agricultural societies were grouped into districts to compete in the District Display. 1,000 pounds was allocated as prize money and to help meet costs.
