Source: Obituary Death of "Uncle Ab" Blinn Absalom Blinn was born in Warren county, Ohio, February 10, 1830; died at his home on the farm adjourning New Albany, Kansas, February 29, 1908. Funeral services were conducted at the M. E. church, Sunday, 10 o;clock a. m., by the pastor Rev. W. M. Stranahan. Internment was made in the Jackson cemetery. In 1850 the deceased was united in marriage with Miss Martha Fry. To this union were born two daughters --- Sara and Amelis Ann, and two sons-- Solomon and Lincoln. Following their marriage in 1850, they moved from Ohio to Bureau county, Illinois, shortly afterward to Henry county same state, and in 1861 to Cass county Indiana,. Here they made their home until 1880 when they located at Howard, Kansas. After a years' residence they moved to the vicinity of New Albany, where his home has been during the past 27 years. In July 1891, he mourned the loss of the faithful helpmate of his youth. In October 1893, he united in marriage with Mrs, Jennie Stewart, who was his devoted companion until his death. Of his children Mrs. Amelia, Eby is the only one deceased. Mrs. Sarah Crain and Sol H Blinn live in New Albany, and Lincoln Blinn is one of the leading citizens of Tonkawa, Oklahoma. All were at his bedside for several days previous to his death. There also survive him two brothers--Daniel Blinn of Coyville, and Samuel Blinn, of New Albany; two sisters-- Mrs Julia Batten and mus. Sarah Eyer, of Henry county, Illinois. "Uncle Ab" as he was familiarly known and called will be greatly missed in the community. Intensely emotional and devoutly religious, he has always been prominent in church affairs. Of a friendly and sociable nature always anxious to be friendly and agreeable, his cheery and hearty greetings on this daily rounds have forever passed from our lives. His last days were fraught with much physical suffering and he was ready and anxious to lay life's burdens down. Peace be with "Uncle Ab."
